WORCESTER, Mass. - People gathered in Worcester for a traditional “Way of the Cross” procession on Good Friday.
For Christians, the event is meant to recreate the biblical account of Jesus being tried and crucified. Bishop Robert McManus of the Diocese of Worcester led the crowd through the city to begin Easter weekend.
“I’m so edified by the number of people,” McManus said. “There must have been four, five hundred people for this Way of the Cross and it’s a sign that people are very much devoted to their catholic faith, especially during these holy days of this holy week.”
In his Easter message released Friday, McManus wished for Easter to give people hope, guide their lives and elevate their vision.
