WORCESTER, Mass. – City and state leaders cut a ribbon Monday at the Mass. Lottery's new Worcester regional office location.
The office at 135 Gold Star Boulevard opened its doors to the public February 6, but Monday afternoon was the grand opening.
State Treasurer Deborah Goldberg said the larger and easy to access retail space will enhance the customer experience.
"Do you realize last year over 2,200 claims totaling over $44 million in prizes were processed in the Worcester office?” Goldberg said at the ribbon cutting ceremony. “Just wrap your head around that and you'll look around at the people that get the job done, because they're the ones who are getting to use this office, to be front-facing to our customers and the others we work with in order to welcome them here."
The office sells all available lottery products and cashes prizes up to $103,000.
