WORCESTER, Mass. - Thursday was the final day for the “Stop the Spread” COVID-19 testing site on Front Street in Worcester run by UMass Memorial Health.

Last month, the state’s Department of Public Health said they'd be closing all of the "Stop the Spread" sites in Massachusetts by March 31 due to a drop in demand. Since the site opened in November 2020, health care workers have administered more than 119,000 tests and more than 12,000 COVID-19 vaccines.

Family nurse practitioner Michelle Muller called the closing bittersweet.

"The feeling is we're a little sad, but we are more than ready to move on and to continue our partnership with a lot of different organizations in Worcester and we're coming out with lessons learned," Muller said.

People can still go to the state's DPH website to find a COVID-19 testing location near them. The Worcester Library also offers vaccinations on Saturdays.
