SHREWSBURY, Mass. - The Shrewsbury boys lacrosse team lost their top four scorers from a year ago, so there will be some rebuilding for the Colonials this year.
The were working hard, practicing on the turf Monday evening ahead of the season opener next week. The Colonials may be inexperienced at some positions, but they like their group and look forward to starting the season against rival Algonquin.
"Algonquin is always a battle," said long stick middie Owen Keeley. "You know, we've gone back and forth over the years, it's always a good fight with them. Always like starting off with a rival."
"Algonquin's always been a really tough rival," said goalie Cole Manion. "I mean, both teams have great kids, I think it's going to be a tough battle. But I think we can come together and really make it a tough game."
"Coming out of the gate on the road, Mid Wach A opponent, we have a lot of respect for those guys over there, we see them quite often," said head coach Nate Skermont. "But you know, there's no let ups in the schedule, not here. It's a great test, it's a great way to come out of the gate, we're looking forward to it."
Shrewsbury opens up their season at Algonquin on Monday, April 3rd at 5:30 p.m.
