WORCESTER, Mass. - Worcester State men's hockey head coach Bob Deraney was recently named the MASCAC Coach of the Year. Deraney led the Lancers to a 12-5-1 record last season.

Deraney also helps out with the Worcester Railers as an assistant coach, and the players and coaches love having him on the ice and sharing his knowledge with them.

"I watch his practices over at the Worcester Ice Center, and he helps us daily," said Railers captain Bobby Butler. "And just the knowledge he has, I've been picking his brain and listening to every word he says because coaching is something I feel I'll be going to next."

"Bob's the man, I mean, we love having him around," said forward Anthony Repaci. "He's the nicest guy, he wants to help everybody, no matter who you are, where you are in the line up, what point you are in your career."

"He's done wonderful things with that program over the last couple years here," said GM/head coach Jordan Lavallee-Smotherman. "Obviously having him is big for us."

The Railers are home this Wednesday against Adirondak at 7:05 p.m.
