WORCESTER, Mass. - More than 300 pieces of equipment started working on Worcester roads at 8 a.m. Tuesday morning to keep the city clear during its biggest snowfall of the year.
DPW commissioner Jay Fink said plows were able to push a good amount of snow off the roads in the morning and as temperatures started to rise above freezing, not much was sticking by the afternoon.
Fink said the weather could worsen throughout the night, but expects road conditions to be clear and ready by Wednesday morning.
"A lot seems to be melting, so depth is deceiving, but we have pushed quite a bit of snow,” Fink said. “When you look at piles of snow that have been pushed off, you realize how much has fallen.”
Fink said there has been only one report of a downed tree in the city and about half a dozen car crashes.
