PAXTON, Mass. - For the Anna Maria men's basketball team, it's not about how they started the season, but how they're finishing.

The Amcats started the season, 1-12 battling injuries, illness and very good teams. But, the players and coaches stuck by one another and turned it around with hard work and determination.

Anna Maria has won three straight games, beating the top three teams in their division in the GNAC. They have qualified for the league playoffs, and after they play their final regular season game this Saturday at Norwich, they will turn all their attention to the post-season, which starts next week.

"We know one loss and we're out," said guard Kennedy Minix-Rogers. "So we know coming into the games we got to play hard. We're always going to be the underdog, on the road, but we're confident in ourselves. We're confident in what we can do. We practice hard and compete."

"These last few games it's been that way, do or die any game," said guard Trevian Grenon. "The last two we won, but we know if we lost any of those our season would most likely be over with the other good teams in our conference."

"We've definitely been playing our best of the season," said guard Malakhi Knight. "We started off slow, but you know coach keeps telling us to dig in, keep finding that extra push, we just found it. That's all it's been so far that extra push."

Forward Gabe Armstead summed it up perfectly, saying "we're just playing as hard as we can because we're not guaranteed another game at this point."

The GNAC playoff first round match-ups will come out after the final league regular season games are played this weekend.
