WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross football team was awarded the key to the City of Worcester at Tuesday night's city council meeting in recognition of their exceptional 2022 season.

The Crusaders finished with a perfect 11-0 record in the regular season and won their fourth consecutive Patriot League title. Holy Cross made it all the way to the FCS quarterfinals before losing to eventual national champions South Dakota State.

Worcester Mayor Joe Petty said he was happy to honor the team for their hard work.

"Your team made the city so proud and I want to congratulate you," Petty said Tuesday night. "In recognition of the College of the Holy Cross football's historic season, it's only right and fair that you receive our city's highest honor. Congratulations to you on your near-perfect season and I wish you and and your team all the best in years to come."

Holy Cross head coach Bob Chesney agreed in January to a restructured contract that will keep him with the Crusaders through the 2027 season.
