WORCESTER, Mass. - The Worcester South High School girls basketball team is undefeated and one of the top teams in the state in Division 2.

The Colonels are incredibly talented, but what makes them so successful is their passion for basketball and love for each other.

"No matter what, we're usually with each other," said guard Naima Bleou. "Even if it's off the court or on the court, school, like at someone's house watching basketball games, scouting other teams, we just love to be around the game of basketball and each other. I think we bring out the greatness in each other, so we just love to be near that."

"I mean, we spend Monday through Sunday together," said guard Jaiyla Colon. "Every day after school, even after practice, we go to prep school games as much as we can just to get exposure as much as we can as well.  Yeah, we're just like a family. We spend every hour with each other, so I think it's definitely an advantage on the court."

"So that's what we built here, the culture, we wanted to change that culture with this team," said head coach Diago McClain. "They all love each other. It's a team first, they do everything outside of basketball."

South's next game is against North Middlesex on Thursday, Feb. 9 in Worcester.
