WORCESTER, Mass. - Holy Cross assistant professor of political science Alex Hindman said the discoveries of classified documents at the offices and home of President Joe Biden, as well as the documents at former President Donald Trump's Florida home, have undercut the public's confidence.

"I think if we were concerned about the health of our democracy in a lot of ways, we need to start asking questions about why there are appearances of double standards," Hindman said.

"There may be distinctions in kind, but we need to really start thinking about how to see those distinctions as different, and our government needs to do a better job of telling us what they're up to."

Hindman said it's also important to note Biden is cooperating and turned the documents over to the National Archives, whereas federal authorities had to serve a subpoena to Trump for some documents believed to be at his estate.
