WORCESTER, Mass. — Some local craft makers were getting into the Christmas spirit Saturday afternoon.
Every year, the Worcester Center for Crafts hosts their holiday festival the Friday, Saturday and Sunday after Thanksgiving.
The center is transformed into a European-style holiday marketplace, and is a celebration of handmade goods, made by people from Worcester and all over New England.
The festival featured ceramics, linens, glass blown creations, woodwork, along with numerous other types of crafts.
Leadership at the center said they’re the oldest craft center in the country.
They’ve been on Sagamore Road since the 1950s, but got their start in 1856.
The center has a gallery, store and classes on how to make a variety of crafts.
“Definitely one-of-a-kind gifts, one-of-a-kind things handmade, nothing is the same,” Lindsey Maclean, assistant manager at the gallery’s store, said. “Supporting small artists, you’re supporting small businesses, you’re supporting the crafts center. It’s all around just a great event to go to.”
“It has been really fun. Yesterday was busy, today is pretty busy,” craft maker Lauren Lavallee said. “Learning a lot from the other vendors on how to get started and really enjoying selling here. Having a good time.”
The center said this is their biggest event of the year, and it continues Sunday, which admission is $5.
