WORCESTER, Mass. - Students at the Abby Kelley Foster Charter Public School are delivering food to women in need at Abby's House.

Sixth and seventh-graders spent Friday afternoon packaging up food items to be delivered. The students are part of the school's leadership club.

Last year, they donated 1,000 cans of food and this year they have a goal of 1,500 cans.

"Being a good citizen means being a part of a community, and they care so much about supporting those who need extra assistance, especially during the holiday season," said Ameliah Lawrence, a teacher at the school. "So they decided to choose Abby Kelly's House."

Abby's House provides shelter, affordable housing and resources to homeless, battered and low-income women and children.
