WORCESTER, Mass. - The Boys & Girls Club of Worcester is gearing up for their annual Jingle Bell Toy Drive.
The club has worked with the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office and the Friends of the Boys & Girls Club to organize the drive for more than 15 years.
Executive director Liz Hamilton said they serve hundreds of families during the holiday season and the drive has grown every year. She said their goal is to make sure every kid has a present to open during the holiday season.
"The Boys & Girls Club of Worcester serves 8,000 youth a year, and during the holidays we serve approximately 2,000 youth and an additional 250 families with everything from food, clothing and toys” Hamilton said. “It's really important that our teens have something to open, so those that are interested in supporting teens, we ask that they give a gift card in the amount of a $25 gift card so that our teens can go shopping with their peers."
The toy drive is Wednesday, December 7 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at El Basha in Worcester. Admission is $20, or people can bring a new unwrapped toy or gift card.
