Democrat Paul Mark is the winner in the race for the Berkshire, Hampden, Franklin and Hampshire state Senate seat. He defeated unenrolled challenger Brendan Phair.
Mark had served as state Rep. for the 2nd Berkshire District since 2010. However, his district was redrawn during the redistricting process.
During his victory party Tuesday night in Pittsfield, Mark thanked all of the people who supported him and said he feels their message has been heard.
"To receive a victory like that means that the message that we've been hearing from the people is resonating with me, and the message we're delivering back is resonating with them," Mark said.
Mark replaces state Sen. Adam Hinds (D), who did not seek re-election after losing his bid for lieutenant governor.
