HOLDEN, Mass. - The higher cost to heat homes is impacting homeowners and renters of all ages, especially seniors.

The Holden Senior Center said they are here to help people stay warm. Their outreach workers have been busier than normal as people start to worry about the colder months.

Director Karen Phillips said people shouldn't hesitate to give the center a call, as they can help them get set up with several programs offering assistance in the area.

"The help is there, so you have to look for it," Phillips said. "Give us a call. They can help with fuel assistance applications, there's the good neighbor fund which is through the Salvation Army. The town of Holden also has a help at home program. You shouldn't be sitting home alone, sad, cold and hungry. Give us a call we will do our best to help."

The Holden Senior Center is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
