WORCESTER, Mass. - State and local leaders were on hand Wednesday morning for a ribbon cutting for a new solar carport at the Worcester Business Center.
The $6 million canopy covers about 2.6 acres and will generate electricity. It's part of a 25 year lease agreement with Green Street Power Partners. The carport is the largest private solar canopy in the state.
"Now completed, this project represents one of the largest arrays of a commercial project in Massachusetts," said Chip Norton, president of Franklin Realty Advisors.
The generated electricity will be sold by Green Street Power Partners to National Grid.
