MARLBOROUGH, Mass. - Dandelion Energy, a geothermal heating company, is now offering its services in Massachusetts after opening their new warehouse in Marlborough Tuesday.

The company said their goal is to help homes transition to clean heating and cooling by offering geothermal solutions. Geothermal, or ground source, heat pumps transfer heat between homes and the ground. In the winter, the pumps moves heat stored in the ground into homes and in the summer, they return heat from the home to the ground.

"The heat pump runs off electricity, but it's also by far the most efficient way to heat and cool a home," CEO Michael Sachse said. "So you're using a lot less, so that's a big part of how we get to sustainability. No more burning natural gas, no more burning heating oil. You've just got sustainable heat and cooling coming into your home."

Massachusetts Senator Ed Markey was on-site for the ribbon cutting and said incentivizing sustainable energy options, such as geothermal, is a large part of lawmakers' strategy to combating climate change.

"The Inflation Reduction Act creates a 30% tax credit for this installation, and combined with the state tax incentives, it just makes it affordable for every homeowner and business to consider geothermal as part of the future," Markey said.

Customers can qualify for a $15,000 rebate through the Mass Save energy saving rebates program.
