WORCESTER, Mass. - The Worcester Regional Food Hub is opening a marketplace on the first floor of the Glass Tower building at 446 Main Street.
The new marketplace will offer dining options from a rotating group of the Food Hub's entrepreneurs.
Director Shon Rainford said it will be like a permanent pop up and bring a diverse selection of food to people in downtown Worcester.
“I kind of view what we do as creating opportunity through food,” Rainford said. “This is another opportunity for people to be able to sell their food in an inexpensive, easily accessible way. It can be really expensive to open a restaurant and when we think about farmers markets and outdoor events, we are weather dependent.
"This is a seasonal area, so the fact we are right downtown year round, great food for all the people working downtown, we're really excited about it.”
The Food Hub will host a soft opening Wednesday and then once the space has fully opened, it will be open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays.
