WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The Big E had a big year, setting an all-time record high for one day attendance on Saturday, September 24 with over 177,000 people.

Now that it's over, one place that is still drawing a crowd is the lost and found department.

"We've actually found all kinds of stuff," Theresa William, Big E Lost People's Center assistant manager, said. "We have a set of dentures, we have a retainer, we have glasses, we have wallets. We have all kinds of stuff. We literally get anything and everything a fairgoer will leave on the grounds."

Theresa Williams has been apart of the lost and found department for almost two decades and said this year compared to years prior.

She has noticed a more honest crowd this year, with many patrons being proactive and returning misplaced items to the lost and found as opposed to waiting for someone else to take action.

She said it can be very easy for people to misplace their belongings at such a massive event, so having a proactive community can make a big difference.

"Everybody loses something," Williams said. "It could be you took your reading glasses off and put them down to look at something while you're at a vendors booth and then you forgot to pick them up and they end up at our lost and found because they were lost and we found them."

The lost and found will be open Wednesday from 12-5 p.m. After that, the remaining items will be packed up into boxes and then donated at the start of 2023 fair if they are not claimed.
