WORCESTER, Mass. — Tommy Magnusson, a former standout athlete from South High, has run Tommy M’s barber shop on Shrewsbury Street for the last 25 years.
Magnusson closed his doors for good on Wednesday, and fitting for a shop that has seen so many athletes and coaches in its chairs through the years, his last customer was Holy Cross football coach Bob Chesney.
Magnusson has been the barber for so many kids’ first hair cut. He has cut the hair of many families and generations throughout his 25 years running Tommy M’s.
It’s the end of an era with the closing of Tommy M’s, where the conversations were always welcomed and customers were friends.
Magnusson has taken a new job in the biotech industry.
He will be at Gina’s hair salon on Shrewsbury Street a couple times a month, on his days off from his new job.
