LEICESTER, Mass. - The best disc golfers in the world are in Leicester this weekend for the 5th annual MVP Open. The tournament runs through Sunday at Maple Hill Disc Golf Course.

The Leicester course has recently been named the number one disc golf course in the world by U-Disc. With a field of the best 88 men and 40 women, the MVP Open is Maple Hill's 19th premiere event.

Course owner Steve Dodge said he always looks forward to the spectators having a great time.

“The fans are embracing these players," Dodge said. "The players been busting their butts for decades and just in the last three or four years they’ve started to be able to tour full-time and the fans are embracing them picking their favorites and going out and following their favorite players all around the courses. It’s a beautiful thing.

"If you’ve never played disc golf, come on up to Maple Hill. We’ve got discs for you to borrow, we’ve got a very easy beginner course and we’ll show you how to hold a disc and give it a huck."

The open is the final playoff event before the tour championship. There's a "Million Dollar Hole-In-One" contest for the men and women's contest is on on Saturday.
