WORCESTER, Mass. - The Worcester County Sheriffs office has moved some of its operations to a new location in downtown Worcester.

365 Main Street will serve as the Worcester Community Justice Support Center and Regional Re-entry Center. Sheriff Lew Evangelidis said the new space allows them to offer more services in one setting.

They’ll run Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous meetings there, as well as probation and parole operations. Classroom space will be used as computer labs and a place to hold job trainings.

Evangelidis said the services are for people diverted from court or re-entering society after release.

"It's an accountable system, but if you are accountable and you comply with the judge's orders, you'll also be given an incredible amount of opportunity to turn your life around by this team here that offer nothing but positive resources for you," Evangelidis said.

"Whether it be educational needs you have or substance treatment needs your help or job skills that you need or help you write a resume, anything you need to keep you on the straight and narrow we offer you right here."

Evangelidis said the whole point of running the center is to keep people from going to prison or going back to prison. He said they recently added an online virtual education program as well.
