LENOX, Mass.—A New Hampshire man was killed during a powerful wind and thunderstorm in Lenox Tuesday evening.
According to Lenox police, Darrin Cawthron, 56, of Derry, New Hampshire was killed when a large tree fell on the pickup truck he was driving on Route 7 near Old Stockbridge Road.
The accident happened around 5:30 p.m. and Cawthron was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
According to authorities, no other vehicles were involved, and there were no reported witnesses.
The crash is still under investigation, although police said the cause does appear to be weather-related.
The storm caused downed trees and wires on at least 15 different roads throughout Lenox. The town’s DPW and local tree service companies are still working to clear the debris.
