WORCESTER, Mass. — The last few days have been busy for baseball fans in Central Massachusetts. Following Red Sox star Chris Sale's start Wednesday, another pitcher toed the rubber in Worcester Sunday.

Nathan Eovaldi got the start for Worcester. The 32-year-old was placed on the 15-day injured list with lower back inflammation in June. Outfielder Enrique Hernandez and reliever Garrett Whitlock have also played at Polar Park during this homestand.

Eovaldi went 3+ innings, allowing two runs and striking out four. Polar Park was packed once again as fans got a glimpse of yet another big league arm.

"This is great! This is my first time here at this Worcester park," Joe Dacey said. "We're here for a family reunion. And looking forward to seeing Eovaldi today. Hopefully he gets a good game in today."

"It's been really excited for everybody here at the Worcester Red Sox and for the organization and for the whole state of Massachusetts," WooSox fan Lori Holden said.

"Being able to see all these great star come through Worcester now and then go up to Boston, we saw Jeter Downs yesterday get called up and go play last night," fan David Hinckley said. "So you really get to see guys kind of travel between Worcester and Boston.

The WooSox also celebrated Jewish Heritage Day Sunday. Israel's flag was raised at the ballpark, Jewish Federation of Central Massachusetts' Steven Schimmel threw out the first pitch, and their choir also sang the Israeli and American anthems.
