WORCESTER, Mass. - Multiple vehicles caught on fire inside the parking garage at Saint Vincent Hospital in downtown Worcester early Thursday afternoon.

According to the Worcester Fire Department, the cause of the fire is under investigation.

Firefighters didn't evacuate the hospital, but the Summer Street entrance of the hospital was closed during the fire because of heavy smoke and toxic fumes. The fire department asked everyone inside the hospital to shelter in pace as they worked to extinguish the fire.

In a released statement, a representative from Tenet Healthcare said, "Earlier today, there was a fire in our parking garage that affected three cars.  It was quickly extinguished due to the collaboration of our staff and the Worcester Fire and Police Departments, and we are grateful for their combined efforts.  Saint Vincent hospital is open, fully operational and patient care continues uninterrupted."

No injuries are reported.
