A new business in Worcester aims to be a game-changer for the city's cosmetology industry.

'My Salon Suite' is a real estate company leasing fully furnished, luxury salon suites to cosmetologists, body art and med spa professionals.

There are 33 suites at the Southbridge Street location.

Franchise owner Tim DeSantis said they are already two-thirds full.

DeSantis said Worcester has a vibrant cosmetology industry, with more than 2,500 license professionals and three teaching academies.

He said he's happy to give business owners, particularly minority women, a place to call home.

"I’m really proud and thrilled to be bringing, you know, 33 jobs to Worcester” said DeSantis. “A lot of the women and men who've located here are coming in from other towns, so we're bringing commerce into this part of the city. We're bringing life into, you know, this part of the city. We have a vibrant cosmetology industry in this city, and I believe in this city. I think we're ready for this kind of a concept.”

There are 250 My Salon Suites nationwide.

The Worcester location is the fourth in Massachusetts.

Business owners who use the suites can also use the building's secured lobby, parking, on-site laundry and restrooms.
