In partnership with the Worcester Historical Museum, Spectrum News 1 presents Worcester's Tercentennial, highlighting the city's most influential citizens in its 300-year history.

The home of one of the most influential Worcester residents of the 20th century has been purchased to be preserved for history.

The Goddard Home on Tallawanda Drive witnessed many developments leading up to America's space program.

Charles Slatkin bought the home of the "Father of Modern Rocketry.” Slatkin is the president of the multimedia nonprofit WOW Inc. and The Wonder Mission, a new organization focused on education about science and space exploration.

The home was built in 1825 by Goddard's grandparents and was a multi-generational house. Goodard was born on the second floor in the upstairs bedroom.

In 1926, Goddard successfully launched the world's first liquid propulsion rocket.
