Local business owners and CEOs getting soaked to raise awareness for ALS. Bay State Savings Bank hosted the ‘CEO Soak' Ice Bucket Challenge Friday, which featured CEO Peter Alden and eight other business leaders taking part.

The goal is to raise money for the Massachusetts Chapter of the ALS Association.

Over the past two years, they've raised more than $15,000.

Alden said ALS has impacted many of Bay State's employees and families.

"As you get exposure to it and you hear what a difficult disease it is and things like that, you want to help and when it hits home you want to help," said Alden. "The ALS Massachusetts Chapter does a great job not just with the individual but with the family and all the support."

"We're eight years removed from the Ice Bucket Challenge, we're seeing results from the investments in research," said John Hedstrom, the Territory Director for ALS New England. "We, as an association, have invested over $100,000,000 since that time, just in research. We provide care services, equipment, education, whatever it is, at no cost. All of the money we're raising today, we take that and turn it around to invest in our territory in New England."

ALS New England plans to be the leader in providing care services to more than 1,200 families in the region.
