PITTSFIELD, Mass. - Tickets are now on sale for new Amtrak service starting this summer between Pittsfield and New York City.
Passenger rail service on the Berkshire Flyer starts on July 8. Service will include a Friday afternoon departure from New York’s Penn Station to Pittsfield via Albany-Rensselaer, NY. The return trip is on Sunday afternoons. Each train will make several station stops.
Travelers can purchase tickets online and through the Amtrak app. Tickets start at $45.
The service is in partnership between Amtrak, MassDOT and the New York State Department of Transportation. They will evaluate the pilot’s success to further understand the feasibility and demand of the service before continuing the service, deciding on its schedule if it is to continue, and identifying specific infrastructure improvements or service changes that may be necessary.

The service will return in the summer of 2023.
