WORCESTER, Mass. - A multi-unit building in Worcester’s Main South neighborhood is for sale and whoever buys it will own a part of Worcester history.
Guertin’s Cafe, one of Worcester’s oldest barrooms and dining establishments, opened in 1918. The 1,700 square feet property is at the corner of Grand and Southgate Streets, a block away from the new Table Talk Pies facility, a few blocks from Clark University and less than a mile from Polar Park.
Guertin’s Cafe closed around the start of the COVID-19 pandemic and the building was sold in late 2020.
The bar business was listed for sale back in September, but now the entire property at 73 Southgate Street is for sale, including the three apartments above the barroom, at a list price of $799,000.
The three apartments include a three-bedroom unit, two-bedroom unit and one-bedroom unit. The two-bedroom unit is occupied and in a lease. Each unit has one bathroom.
The new building owner can operate the bar or lease it to someone, and the tenant would have to apply for the liquor license.
