WORCESTER, Mass. - Amtrak unveiled their upcoming summer schedule with expanded service between Washington, D.C. and Boston.
Effective immediately, the company says they are adding eight round trip trains between Boston and New York City. The trains will run Monday through Saturday and nine round trip trains on Sundays.
The Hartford line is also fully restored with seven roundtrip trains per weekday between New Haven, Connecticut and Springfield.
Starting today, May 23, daily service on the Lake Shore Limited train will be restored, once again making a stop in Worcester. The train starts in Boston, making stops in Worcester, Pittsfield, Springfield, New York City, Cleveland and ending in Chicago, with several other stops in Indiana, Pennsylvania and across New York state along the way.
Also starting Monday, Amtrak’s Acela service will offer expanded service between Washington, D.C. and Boston, including nine roundtrips per weekday between Boston and New York City and 10 roundtrips per weekday between D.C. and NYC.
As Spectrum News 1 reported earlier this week, the Commuter Rail's "Heart to Hub" express service between Boston and Worcester also returned to service on Monday.
