WORCESTER, Mass. - Clark University held the inauguration ceremony for their newest president Saturday.
David Fithian graduated from the university in 1987 and most recently served as executive vice president at the University of Chicago.
Clark University faculty, staff and students honored their newest president at Mechanics Hall through music and speeches.
He was named president in January 2020 and joined Clark in July of the same year.
Spectrum News 1 spoke to Fithian earlier in the week about being inaugurated.
“It feels slightly odd to be inaugurated officially after two years, but I’m really delighted for this opportunity," Fithian said. "It’s really about shining a spotlight on Clark and letting people know that we’re really poised to progress as an institution. And I chose to do the inauguration in downtown Worcester because I really wanted to express our deep commitment to the city as well as Main South as we think about our future.”
Fithian now serves as the 10th president of the university.
