WORCESTER, Mass. - Starting May 2, the Worcester line on the MBTA Commuter Rail will operate on a temporarily modified weekday schedule to reduce the number of midday trains to allow work on infrastructure improvements.

The adjusted schedule will allow construction to advance without disruption on the Union Station Improvement project, on the Natick Center platform project, work above the tracks at Back Bay Station and for the installation of new rail ties between Framingham and Worcester.

The temporary schedule will remain in place until October, when the MBTA will restore midday service on the Worcester Line. Construction will not affect weekday peak service in the morning and the evening.

The temporary schedule for the Worcester Line will include the following adjustments:

Inbound weekday service:

Time adjustments to trains 510, 514, 518, 520, 532, 534 and 536

Trains 512, 516 and 522 temporarily eliminated

Outbound weekday service:

Time adjustments to trains 501, 503, 505, 509, 513, 515, 519, 521, 523, 525, 527, 529, 531, 533, 535, 537

Trains 507, 511 and 517 temporarily eliminated

Inbound weekend service: no changes

Outbound weekend service: 5 minutes time adjustment to all Saturday and Sunday trains
