The building at 112 Lincoln Street is a complete loss, and two adjacent buildings were damaged and evacuated as well.

Christian Center executive director Betsy Sherman said a few of the families have come by for supplies already.

“We had a young lady in yesterday in who was in her pajamas and a pair of flip-flops because that’s what she escaped with,” said Sherman.

The center is looking for donations of everyday items like clothing, shoes, and hygiene products. They’re also accepting money for the Pittsfield fire fund, which will go directly to the affected families.

Sherman said they’ve had several people drop off donations, and every bit counts.

“For me, having been through a fire, I know how important it is to have some place to go, just some place that’s available,” said Sherman. “No matter what the financial circumstances of people who have been through a fire are, help is needed, help is necessary.”

Anyone who wants to make a donation can stop by the Christian Center on Robbins Avenue in Pittsfield anytime from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday.
