WORCESTER, Mass. - The owners of Crust Bakeshop are planning to buy BirchTree Bread Company.
On Thursday, the Worcester Licence Commission approved the request to transfer BirchTree’s liquor and entertainment licenses over to Worcester Baking, LLC. The entity is registered to Alexis Kelleher, who owns the two Crust Bakeshop locations in the city.
Kelleher and co-owner Nathan Rossi told the commission they’re looking to purchase the assets of BirchTree, but it won’t be a third Crust-branded location.
“We want to keep the name and really a lot of what’s there the same because we really love and respect what (current BirchTree Bread Co. owners) Rob (Fecteau) and Avra (Hoffman) have built there,” Kelleher said. “We would like to use that kitchen to produce for our current bakeries, Crust, because we are running out of space there.”
Kelleher says they’re hoping to purchase the BirchTree assets by mid-May. Both Crust locations will remain open.
