WORCESTER, Mass. - The city of Worcester is hosting a public forum next month to present design plans for a little league field at Cristoforo Colombo Park, or East Park, in Worcester.

The field is tucked away in the corner of East Park on Shrewsbury Street. Grass is coming up through the infield grass, a sign the field hasn’t been used in some time. The backstop and infield can’t be seen from the road and the field sits below the cliff side of Belmont Hill.

The larger baseball field closer to Shrewsbury Street has undergone some improvements in recent years.

Plans for improvements at the little league field are expected to include a new infield, a concession stand and outfield lights.

Worcester’s Department of Public Works and Parks will present the design concept at a public meeting on April 11 at the Parks & Recreation headquarters at 50 Manny Familia Way (formerly Skyline Drive) at 6 p.m. The meeting will include a Q&A and public comment forum.

Public comments will be used to develop the field’s final design.
