MARLBOROUGH, Mass. - The Massachusetts State Police Hockey Team faced off against the New York City Police Department Hockey Club to honor fallen Massachusetts State Trooper Tamar Bucci.
A classmate of Bucci sang the National Anthem and Colonel Christopher Mason dropped the ceremonial puck to start the game at the New England Sports Center in Marlboro.
Proceeds from the game, including a 50/50 raffle, will benefit the Bucci family.
The Boston Bruins donated a signed Taylor Hall jersey for the lucky chuck-a-puck winner.
Massachusetts State Police say they're thankful for the community's support, as well as the support of the New York City Police Department.
"When they heard about the terrible incident involving Trooper Bucci, they asked immediately, "What can we do?". And they were right on their horses and up they came," Colonel Christopher Mason of the Massachusetts State Police said. "It's nice to have an uplifting moment here to see classmates come together, to see troopers and other members of the law enforcement community come together and have a much lighter moment. But still one in tribute to Trooper Bucci. It's been a great event."
The Hero's Cup Hockey Foundation also contributed a donation of $2,000.
Massachusetts State Police Hockey says more information on future fundraisers can be found on their Instagram.
