WORCESTER, Mass. - A Worcester city councilor is proposing another way to deal with potholes popping up in the city.

The city already has a website where residents can report potholes, but Councilor At-Large Morris Bergman is requesting a 24/7 hotline.

Bergman said it appears there are deeper potholes on roads this year, creating a dangerous situation for drivers. He said some potholes need immediate attention so the hot line would get them addressed quicker.

“If you report a pothole on a Friday and no one can get out there, let’s say until Monday, I’m not saying this is always true, but let’s say generally it’s true, there’s a lot of damage that potholes could cause over that weekend,” Bergman said in an interview on Tuesday. “It would be much better to get right on it before it causes damage.”

Bergman said hitting a pothole can also cost you money, as many people have to pay out of pocket for damage unless the City is on notice ahead of time.
