WORCESTER, Mass. - Nomination papers are now available in Worcester for candidates planning to run in this year’s state election.

City Clerk Niko Vangjeli said interested candidates can pick up forms at the City Clerk’s office at City Hall.

Candidates running for district and county offices have until May 3 to gather enough signatures to qualify for the ballot. Candidates for Congress and statewide offices have until May 10.

Vangjeli said he expects more people planning to run for office will come forward in the next few weeks.

“The first step if you plan on running is to pickup nomination papers,” Vangjeli said. “Once you do that, you can start collecting signatures. (The city clerk’s office) can provide (prospective candidates with) a voters list and anything else (they) might need for the nomination process.”

There are multiple open statewide offices up for grabs in November’s election, including Governor, Lt. Governor, and Attorney General.

A statewide primary will be held on Sept. 6, 2022. The general election is Nov. 8.
