HUDSON, Mass. — From their little hearts to a pizza box, second-graders at Farley Elementary School in Hudson are spreading love with poems.

One of them reads "Candy is red. The sky is blue. Will you be my valentine? Please and thank you."

Students wrote hundreds of poems like this so customers could get more than just a slice on Valentine's Day at Rail Trail Flatbread Co. 

"Outside of the box kind of gift," manager Taso Vitsas said. "But also inside of the box."

With help from Mrs. Lewis-Kane's students, the shop is pairing pizza with poems. Every heart-shaped pizza ordered on Monday comes with loving words from some of the town's youngest learners.

"Anything heart-shaped is always fun to eat," Vitsas said. "Now it can be a little bit special with a special poem written on it."

Students wanted to help the community show the special people in their lives how much they are loved. Many students said Valentine's Day is meant to be spent with family and friends. 

It's the second year the shop has offered the perfect combo and it's been a hit. 

"Tacos are orange. Spaghetti is yellow," Vitsas said while reading one of the poems. "I love eating with you. You are a great fellow."

The pizza and poems are now a Valentine's Day tradition. When Mrs. Lewis-Kane asked her students if they were going to write more, they all shouted “yes.”
