WORCESTER, Mass. - The state expects the new Worcester Registry of Motor Vehicles service center will open in the next few months.

While there’s no specific opening date in mind for the service center yet, the Massachusetts Department of Transportation said the new location at the former Big Y supermarket at the Southwest Cutoff plaza will be open for business in late spring.

MassDOT initially expected the center to open this past fall. They signed a lease agreement last spring for the space. Preparations are still underway to move the service center from its current location at 611 Main St.

All RMV transactions offered at the current downtown location will be offered at the new location.

Approximately 250 parking spaces at the plaza will be available to RMV customers.
