WORCESTER, Mass. - The Massachusetts Health Connector has reopened its walk-in center on Main Street in downtown Worcester.
The center closed in March 2020 at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Health Connector’s open enrollment period runs from now until Jan. 23
The Worcester walk-in center can provide members assistance with selecting, applying and enrolling their health coverage. Members can also make their premium payments at the center.
They state agency says during the pandemic more people have realized how important their health and having health insurance is. They're able to provide more coverage this year thanks to ARPA funding and says people who make up to $85,000 a year who don't receive health insurance from work may be eligible.
“Some people are getting tax credits that are paying $2,000 to $3,000 a year for their health insurance. Their premiums are down hundreds of dollars. We have people coming in all the time saying they were paying $300 or $400 and now they're only paying $75 or $150,” Jason Lefferts, Director of Communications and Outreach, said. “Just that couple hundred bucks a month makes a big difference."
The walk-in center is located at 146 Main Street and is open Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
