HANCOCK, Mass. - An employee at Jiminy Peak Mountain Resort was killed in a collision involving the snowmobile she was driving at the mountain on Tuesday morning.

30-year-old Kimberlee Francoeur died after a snow grooming machine backed into the snowmobile she was on, according to the Berkshire District Attorney’s Office.

Northern Berkshire EMS responded to the scene, and a paramedic pronounced her dead at the mountain’s ski patrol building shortly before noon on Tuesday.

Francoeur is from Lanesborough and was working as part of the snow making team.

“This is a terrible tragedy, and our entire staff is deeply shaken by it,” Tyler Fairbank, president and CEO of the Fairbank Group, which owns and operates the resort, said in a statement. “Our primary concern right now is for our employee’s family and friends, and all members of our staff impacted by this accident.”

The office of the Chief Medical Examiner is working to determine a cause of death, and an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
