ADAMS, Mass. - After years of being closed, the iconic Miss Adams Diner in downtown Adams has reopened under new ownership.
“I’m ecstatic,” said new owner Pete Oleskiewicz. “I’ve been welcomed graciously by the community. I’m happy. As you see now, since we’ve been open, there hasn’t been an empty seat.”
What You Need To Know
- The Miss Adams Diner in downtown Adams is now open under new ownership
- New owner Pete Oleskiewicz spent the last year restoring the historic Worcester lunch car
- The diner is open Wednesday-Sunday for breakfast and lunch
- Oleskiewicz hopes to expand the hours and offerings in the new year
Oleskiewicz bought the diner last September. He spent the past year restoring it, replicating the feel of when it first opened in 1949.
“This is Worcester lunch car number 821,” said Oleskiewicz. “I wanted to try to stay as original as possible. I wanted everything to be kind of period to what it is and make no changes.”
Wednesday was just their fifth day of operation, so they’re still working out some of the kinks. But so far, the reviews are good.
“This is the first place I’ve actually found a decent biscuits and gravy in the area, so overall, very happy,” said Alex Berteles as he finished his breakfast Wednesday morning. “I’m glad they opened.”
“It’s tasty, that’s what you’re looking for,” said John Bird, sitting on a stool at the lunch counter. “And I’m just glad that, in the times that we have now where restaurants fail and it’s hard to stay in business, that he has a good start up here, certainly.”
Right now, the diner is open Wednesday through Sunday for breakfast and lunch, but Oleskiewicz hopes to expand the hours and offerings in the near future.
“In January, I want to go to a six-day format, and we’ll just be closed on Monday,” said Oleskiewicz. “And we’re sampling menus and schedules for February, opening until dinner. But, through patience and perseverance, here we are, and I’m very, very happy.”
