WORCESTER, Mass. — In addition to vaccines, the equity clinic at the Worcester Public Library handed out COVID-19 antigen rapid tests on Saturday.
The clinic passed out 450 at-home self-tests on a first-come, first-served basis to people getting vaccinated on site. The library site was given several dozen kits originally, but requested more, as it has been vaccinating about 400 people on average on Saturdays.
This weekend marked the last Saturday for the equity clinic in 2021. With more traffic than they were expecting to start the day, the library called in some help to get more people vaccinated.
"Every nurse that we know that's certified to do this, every med student that we know will be coming by, so we can hopefully move this line a little bit quicker and get as many people boosted," said Jason Homer, the executive director of the Worcester Public Library.
"We also have many new people getting their first dose, which we're super excited about," Homer added.
The Worcester Public Library equity clinic will be open again on Wednesday, Dec. 22 and Wednesday, Dec. 29.
