WORCESTER, Mass. - An arrest has been made in connection with the fatal shooting of two men outside of a bar on Grafton Street in early December.
According to the Worcester Police Department, detectives developed probable cause to arrest of Christopher Burns, 37, of Vernon Street, in connection with the double homicide on Dec. 8.
Detectives got an arrest warrant for Burns for two counts of murder, Unlawful Carrying of a Loaded Firearm, Unlawful Carrying of a firearm, and Armed Career Criminal Level 2.
Police arrested Burns early Wednesday morning at his residence on Vernon Street.
“I am proud of the professionalism of our Detective Bureau, and I would like to thank the investigators for the persistence and hard work that led to this arrest,” Chief Steven Sargent said. “I would also like to thank the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Team, who assisted with the arrest.”
Officers responded to the former Diamond Inn at 271 Grafton St. for a report of a shooting just before 2 a.m. on Dec 8. When they arrived, two male victims were on the sidewalk. The victims were given medical aid and transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital. They pronounced both men dead at the hospital.
The victims were in their 30s. They were standing on the sidewalk when shots were fired at them.
