WORCESTER, Mass. - Art installations are the latest additions to Worcester's Main Street Reimagined initiative.
On Wednesday morning, an artist and contractor worked early to install a wrench bench outside of Mechanics Hall. The Esther Howland bench was also being installed at City Hall.
It's a part of the $11 million reconstruction project which will also add bicycle lanes, widened sidewalks and new streetscapes in the city's downtown.
Installations will have informational kiosks providing background on the art pieces and detailing the artist’s vision for the finished product. The kiosks are expected to be added next year.
Part of the project also includes the construction of Carroll Plaza at the Hanover Theatre. Once completed, the area will feature a raised stage and seating areas.
