WORCESTER, Mass. - Plans are underway to replace the nearly 125-year-old roof on Worcester's City Hall.

The current slate roof is the original roof put on when city hall was built in 1898.

According to the City, the cost of replacing the roof could run the city upwards of $3.5 million.

The city plans to get the slate from the same upstate New York quarry where the slate on the current roof came from.

The proposal to replace the roof will go before the city's Historical Commission next week.
