WORCESTER, Mass. - The 6th annual Hill-o-ween event was held in Worcester's Union Hill neighborhood on Sunday.

Thousands of kids and their parents attended, showing up in their Halloween costumes for the event.

Hill-o-ween is a partnership between the Worcester Police Department and Worcester Academy to give the children who live on the Union Hill, Grafton Hill and Vernon Hill areas a safe and special way to celebrate Halloween.

Worcester Police officer Sean Lovely helped organize the event and spoke about the success of the evening.

“This is actually a blessing. Last year we couldn’t have Worcester Hill-o-ween. This year, we’re able to do so and we actually got a lot more sponsors this year, twice as many as normal,” Officer Lovely said. “So it seems as if the community as a whole wanted to give back to the families that reside in this section of the city.”

Thousands of bags of candy were donated by people and organizations for all of the attendees to enjoy.
