MASS. - The success of the New England Revolution has caused a scheduling change to this year's Massachusetts high school championships at Gillette Stadium.
With Major League Soccer (MLS) playoffs scheduled to take place on Saturday, December 4, the original date of the state football championships, the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) announced that the eight state championship games will move.
Three games will now be held on Wednesday, Dec. 1 and Thursday, Dec. 2 with two games to be played on Monday, Dec. 6.
According to an email sent out by MIAA associate executive director, Richard Pearson, items still to be determined for the games are which division will play what day and at what time and the length of the quarters during the games.
If the MLS playoff schedule were to change, the new football state championship schedule may have to be reevaluated.
